The Uniforms in the Photos

Sick-bay attendant and WRAF

The RNAS (Royal Naval Air Service) was merged with the RFC (Royal Flying Corps) to form the RAF (Royal Air Force) on 1st April 1918. Old uniforms continued to be worn, however, until they were worn out or stocks exhausted and the evidence to hand suggests that these photos were taken at the end of 1918 or in 1919. Some of the photos show RAF/RNAS personnel wearing army tunics, which may have been used as working clothes.
